How to Prepare for your Morpheus8 Treatment
Before having a Morpheus8 treatment, avoid things that cause skin irritation. That includes direct sun before (and after treatment) and topical products like retinol or tretinoin at least 2-3 days beforehand. Additionally, at least 48 hours before your treatment, you will want to stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, Excedrin, Motrin, Ginkgo Biloba, ginseng, flax oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, and other essential fatty acids. Following this recommendation will help reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Prepare for your appointment with clean skin. That means no lotion, makeup, perfume, powder, bath, or shower oil on any areas that are going to be treated.
What You Can Expect
Immediately following your Morpheus8 treatment, you can expect your skin to feel tender, and you may look like you have a mild sunburn. Before being discharged, a special ointment will be applied to the face. No bandages or wraps will be needed. You can also expect some swelling, peeling, flaking, and crusting from the tiny punctures. These conditions will last for 3-7 days. Each person’s experience may be slightly different.
How Many Treatments?
Depending on your age, skin damage, and the extent of improvement desired, a series of two to four treatments may be recommended. We recommend three Morpheus8 treatments spaced about a month apart will provide the best results.
Restrictions
- Makeup should not be worn for 24 hours after the procedure. Makeup can be applied when there are no areas with active oozing or warm redness.
- Resume use of your skin care products after 2-3 days.
- Retinoids can be used 5-7 days after treatment.
- Avoid scrubbing the skin, as it will be sensitive. Treat it as though you have a sunburn, and be gentle when cleansing.
- Use zinc oxide sunblock SPF 30 at all times after 24-48 hours. Until then, avoid direct sunlight.
- Skin cell turnover is about 28 days, so the results will be more evident after this time period.
